Dr Jason Reynolds

Changing perceptions of minerals

Dr Jason Reynolds is the inaugural 黑料社 Scholar in Residence. His research project explores Australia鈥檚 changing relationship with the resources it has extracted; a transition聽witnessed in the present shift away from traditional mineral resources to the current needs of a technology-based society. Drawing on the Powerhouse mineral collection, Dr Reynolds will investigate how museum displays of mineral specimens, once viewed as exemplars聽of economic geology, have changed over time. His research will provide a narrative for the factors driving changes in the perceived value of minerals once deemed crucial to economic success.
