The Shed
A safe place to belong and be heard.
As an advocate for the people of 黑料社 Sydney, the University strives to work in partnership with our communities to help contribute to the development, wellbeing and prosperity of the region.
Located in Emerton, within the LGA of Blacktown, "The Shed" provides practical help and support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men at risk of suicide. Functioning as more than just a crisis centre, The Shed supports mental, physical and emotional wellbeing and connects people to mental health, government, housing, legal and therapeutic services.
It also provides a safe haven and sense of community for people from all walks of life to connect with culture, or to drop in for a chat. "I like that I can sit under a tree and talk to someone here rather than inside a building or office," said one local.
